TCA is a powerful exfoliating agent that works by removing the outer layers of the skin in the epidermal and dermal regions.

It’s a modified synthetic chemical based on common vinegar. All T C A peels are considered medium depth peels for skin resurfacing and much more potent exfoliators than Alpha Hydroxy (AHA) peels.
The results are quicker than Glycolic, Lactic, Salicylic and Mandelic, Jessner & VI peels but slow and safe is the way to go. Once your skin has adjusted to the lower strength peels you can perform a T C A peel once a month.

The most common percentages for a TCA facial skin peel are between (8-25%). Stronger concentrations are commonly used to remove, moles, warts, skin tags and tattoo’s (50-100%), protecting the healthy skin surrounding those areas with Vaseline or Aquaphor.
There is some down time associated with TCA peels, 7-10 days. However, the results are usually well worth the wait! If you are using chemical peels for the first time, use the lowest concentration peel and gradually move up to a stronger one each time as your skin acclimates safely. Don’t start out with a peel that’s too strong thinking you will get better results for your money. You will just end up burning your skin! Though you can dilute the stronger concentrations or purchase a sample size if you are cost conscious. And remember to DO A PATCH TEST 1st so you have a baseline of what your skin can handle.
